History of Jagjit Singh

After learning classical music, He moved to Bombay in the year 1965 getting for better job in the field of music. He faces some initial struggles and problems before; finally he set the place in the industry. In the past 1970 the world of ghazals was dominated by renowned names like Pukhraj, Malika, Begum Akhtar, and Noor Jehan. Jagjit Singh made the hard work to come with his first album ‘The Unforgettable’. His voice is very clear and effectiveness for the industry. The album sold numerous copies and was a hit with listeners. He met another singer Chitra. They got married her after a two year long courtship in the year 1969. They set the example of the first successful husband-wife singer in field of singing.
Between the 90's, they released an album ‘Beyond Time’, which was experimentation with the different sounds and the music. Unfortunately, around this time, their only son has died in young age his name was Vivek. It was a huge loss for the husband-wife and their fans also in the world. Yet, Jagjit Singh continued to sing and his songs have only gained more popularity with each passing day. His later albums named Insight, Hope in Search, Visions, Mirage, Love Is Blind, Kahkashan (Galaxy) etc. After the melody singing they come in top Ghazal singers list in the country. He also make album with Lata Mangeshkar named ‘Sajda’. Jagjit Singh has also sung many songs in Hindi movies. Jagjit Singh has proved himself as a genius. His transition from the 90's till date has been absolutely marvelous as he has moved towards much more melodious and meaningful Ghazals.
